The gauge of how open the flowers will be is not absolutely predictable.  Some will open in one, two, or three days and others take longer, depending on the time of year they're cut, etc.  Calla Lilies, for example, sometimes open as the photo shows above (usually spring, beginning of summer) and other times they do not open at all, more resembling rolled-up scrolls.
